Oh yes! Fresh Breads and Pastries Wednesday at Midnight’s Farm 9-2

Oh hey dears. Gosh. The rains are here, that’s a relief and not without worry that it won’t be enough, but grateful that the cycles we need persist. Sing the songs and give the offerings and drive less and keep our circle of impact local, we sort of try our best to make these connections, for whatever it is worth.
The seeds are in the ground just in time, grain will be doing its ancient grain thing and at our scale our bodies get to follow ancient planting patterns and it’s comforting and bolstering. A little home garden is being tended by mama and kids; careful little souls who love their land and this little life.
We have a new baker for the summer, Josh, if you see him around, given him a welcome. He’s a sweet addition to our dear team, helping us all push through one last summer in our tiny tricky space and oven. Everyone who helps get the bread and goodies from seed to loaf (or twist, or bun or what have you) has really dialed it in and this year we’ve got a lot of experience and commitment to bring it all together. Save for the newbie, everyone has been with us for a few (even many!) seasons and we are so grateful and charged up that this bread baking is bigger than just our own knowledge and efforts.

We will be starting at the Lopez Farmer’s Market in the village on Saturday, the first day of the season, so you will be able to get our regular market goodies there every week now until the fall. Whew! We’ll have another e-mail Friday with the list…

Our Wednesday Open Houses at Midnight’s Farm will continue through the summer if y’all show up and keep it up. We’ll put together some good incentives and variety for this mid-week bake, but I’ll just be a tease until we can commit to some of our schemes.  But come by tomorrow and get your faves before they run out…We’ll have:

Country Bread – your daily bread. It’s good old, it’s special fresh.

Millet Apricot- tucked in morsels of toothiness and sweet
Sourdough Croissants and their Chocolate variation – these really are pretty special 25 minutes out of the oven. Heritage grain, whole pastured butter, goodness. Hard to find, and here you are!
Rhubarb Scones -Why does Spring and Summer come with all things pink?
Savory veggie hand pies – a quick savory bite loaded with island grown goodness straight from the farms of Lopez, all local!
Puff Pastry Pizzas – NESTO!
Apple Butter Buns – rich condensed apple butter cinnamon butter, all twisted up in our naturally leavened laminated dough. We just used the last of the years apples, so with the summer fruit we’ll wait for apple buns until the fall! Come enjoy the last!
Rhubarb Custard Galettes- sweet, tangy, rich, and vibrating with that rhubarb energy
Sprouted Lopez Whole Grain Rosemary Shortbread- has a following….

Other goodies too…come find out!

Mostly self serve, Arthur and Ona will be around to field any pressing concerns or delightful conversation, we’ll see you all tomorrow.
Thank you!!!
